This mostly true, the yellow pages online are a good way to find targeted groups and create lists that are good in sales and marketing. Google is a newer way to advertise with a newer generation. There is also facebook, which may be a way to advertise to select groups in the future. Brands are already going online on Twitter and developing their groups and making it interactive, this is the evolution of online media, more to come for sure.

As far as I can remember in the last 10 years or so the only times I've had to use the Yellow pages has been to look up the support number for my internet service provider when the internet has gone down. If a business has no possibility of showing up in a google search, chances are I'm not interested in dealing with them.

I believe instead of getting a yellow pages left on your doorstep by default, we should be able to opt out (save some trees!), or perhaps get just a 'lite' version that includes common utilities, telecomunications, emergency numbers, etc.
