Recap of HTG 10 meeting
Boy, I am wiped, full, gut rot, exhausted, tired and full of energy all at the same time. I have to thank Jeannine Edwards from ConnectWise for the Tums in our little snack pack today, thank you…how did you know? There must be some truth to wishing and maybe prayer and Jeannine delivered the Tums.
This week, 9 of the members of HTG10 (Canada) got together in Orlando, just outside the Disneyworld Resort for two solid days of business talk. Many of us are smaller IT shops wanting to grow our business and take on the world. It is true, it is hard work and especially since I am the facilitator, it is hard work and man I am sure feeling it tonight.
What makes HTG so special? Sure, we get great feedback on what to do and what not to do in our business. We have a great board of directors made up of people just like us. The real gem for me is seeing all my friends in the community. We had a HTG3 (classic) meeting tonight, just a catch up with all the original members of our group, some back to the first meeting in November 2006 at Council Bluffs, Iowa. That seems like so long ago. HTG3 is now a totally different group with me now working in HTG10, 4 of the guys in HTG20 and my good friend Erik in HTG12. It is a new group and I was them luck going forward.
This gets me thinking, and pardon the typos (I will fix them later, did I mention I am just totally exhausted). Why do we do this? What makes many of us travel thousands of kilometres each quarter to invest two days of hard business development? For some, it can’t be easy and for the rest, it is darn right difficult. There are no free passes with HTG. We work hard and we also sometimes play hard. Well, not this guy, I am starting to enjoy the quick time in my hotel room after a hard day.
I am not sure how often I will blog this week, I will try soon. Friday will probably be the next day.
Thanks to all the folks at HTG for making this happen.
