The story of the brick

When we were out and about on Saturday and having lunch at Coco Brooks Pizza in Northeast story the menu had an inspirational story about a successful business person in his brand new Jaguar.  This story really hit home with me on the fast paced life I wanted everyone to think I lived.  I also know that I got wrapped up in my own false expectations appearing real.  Now the story kind of goes something like this, however you can read about the Jaguar and the brink here.

Before I begin the story and my interpretation of the story, I have a question for you.  How many of you are sharing stories of inspiration with your clients?  Have you ever stopped to think what impact it would have on your relationship with them if you did?

Now to the story of the day.

A successful business person was driving through the streets of Chicago, speeding along on his way to an important meeting when a young kid from out of nowhere through a brick and nailed his expensive car leaving quite a mark.  Now I told you, I am giving you my interpretation of the story.

Angered the driver of the expensive Jag got out of his car, screaming and yelling at the young boy for throwing the brick at his expensive car.  When the driver asked the young boy why he threw the brick the boy upset pleaded “Mister, I didn’t know what else to do”.  You see the young boy’s brother had fallen out of his wheelchair and was badly hurt.

The successful business person was shaken as he swallowed the lump in his throat.  Helping the boy’s brother to his chair and then making his way back to his car, the damage to his car now wasn’t all that important. All the boy could do is thank the man and offer God’s blessing to him. The successful man never did fix the very noticeable dent in his car.  He left it to remind daily of the importance of slowing down before someone has to throw a brick in order to get our attention.

God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts. Sometimes when we don’t have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us.

Inspiration of the day

Brilliant, civilization-changing ideas are a dime a dozen. Physically taking action to implement them, however, beginning with baby steps that seem to accomplish very little, is what gets the crowds here screaming like raving lunatics.
