I see signs of a recovery
WOW, what a power Wednesday, the economy is starting to turn, I can smell it in the air. This week has been the busiest since joining the Bulletproof team on Febuary 1st as their Vice President of Business Development. I think the rebound is starting to happen. I am not going to get to overly confident, but I can just smell it in the air. Lots of great opportunities are presenting themselves and a number of people I am speaking with are just loving it out there and happy to be in business.
A Morning at the Calgary Chamber
Wednesday was a great day. It started with our Calgary Chamber of Commerce, Ambassador’s Breakfast. A number of us who sit as Ambassadors at the Chamber meet monthly to see what is happening and how we can serve the Chamber more effectively. Remember, life is truly about serving others, in our business and especially in our community. The Chamber is a great place and I am very fortunate to have been a member for the past 8 years. Thanks to the great crew there. I know this week they had some changes there, however this will happen, especially today and especially in the new business world we live in.
I am also an Ambassador (in training) with the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce, since Bulletproof has an office (actually our head office) in Red Deer, it seemed like a good idea to come on board with them as well. Remember what I said, service is what we are here on earth for. To give more in value than we take in payment. I remember my good buddy Bob Burg telling me that a few times.
So Alan Tay invested time in me today
However, I need to thank my good buddy Alan Tay from AvGlobe. Alan has a blog that I encourage you to check out. He speaks a lot about outsourcing and offshoring of services. I totally support going where the talent is. This can be down the street or on the other side of the globe. Alan’s firm specializes in finding the right people for the job you need. Doesn’t matter if it is accounting, HR, technology, software design…he can help you out.
Alan sat down with me and we connected today. We have always talk at a Chamber event or in an event with Calgary Entrepreneurs, however today we really connected and share tips and tricks about business, personal life stories and LinkedIn. I thought I knew a lot about LinkedIn, but boy did I know nothing compared to my flying ace buddy from Singapore.
Alan taught me the value of local groups, discussion forums, company sites and of course events. I do a lot of events in Calgary and soon to be in Red Deer, however I have never truly leveraged LinkedIn. What seperates the great companies from those who are not so great…Leverage!

Calgary Chamber Networking Luncheon
Thanks Alan for taking time to help me today. And of course, Alan won the door prize at the Networking Luncheon, which was the last part of the power day at the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. We had a chance to pitch Bulletproof to the monthly networking luncheon. Lots of great people and I shared the imp0rtance of the Go Giver in what we do with our community. It was awesome to wrap how working in our community, making an impact in those clients and friends we serve.
You can view our presentation here…I will put some audio on it eventually.
