Hump Day, the middle of the week had some special meaning today in Dallas. This was the day between the two HTG peer group sessions. A day for vendors to meet with partners, share some stories, some pitches…it was a day for us partners to shake some hands, meet with people we haven’t seen in a while and share our war stories from the last quarter.
I managed to link up with my good friend Ernie Sherman from Ottawa’s Harris Computer Services today. Ernie and I go way back and it was good to catch up with him. Sometimes getting the chance to talk over the phone is hard, but the nice thing about these conferences is that we have no other distractions when we are here. So it is time to focus on our relationships with our peers.
Tomorrow is the first day with a new peer group for me, I will be joining the team from HTG5 lead by Robert Lindley from ISI in Little Rock. I have known Robert for quite a while and see him from time to time at different Microsoft and industry events. It will be great to get to know Robert a little deeper this week as the group feels me out to see if I am good fit for them and vice versa.
The HTG3 gang is not to far away and I managed to reconnect with a bunch of them if not all of them today as well. I really miss these guys from my day to day life, however, like everything else we don’t need boundaries like group membership from keeping our relationships hopping.
This gets to my topic of the day – Boundaries
How many of us have put up our own boundaries to our success? I bet many of us have. I know I have. Do you use phrases like “The customer will never buy that” or “I can’t do that, I am not skilled enough” or maybe this one “I am not good enough” and there are many own boundaries that we put up that stop us dead in our tracks.
What is the own thing that separates that winners from those that struggle?
It is boundaries, winners in life know that boundaries do not exist in life, they see this purely as an obstacle or obstruction that they need to navigate through. Sure it slows them down but it doesn’t stop them in their tracks. However, those of us that struggle or quit use boundaries that we impose on ourselves to stop us from really going after something in our life.
We need to stop those boundaries from screwing our life up? This is the only way that we will truly achieve the things in life that we deserve, that we work hard for, maybe it will get you your first date, maybe that first kiss…these are all boundaries that we need to work through.
So what is stopping you?
