I was speaking with my good friend Jeff from Red Deer on Friday night about the future and everything going on and I made a closing comment to him that really got me thinking. When is it time to grow up? I know that the one thing that I have gone through life with is an attitude of fun, excitement and maybe to some an attitude of footloose and fancy free.
Sure this attitude has burned me in the past, actually on more than one occasion. Today, I think about the future a lot. What does my future hold for me? Will I carry on with the same luck in life I have had up to now? What does the next generation of me look like? Sure, you can read all you want, listen to all the CD’s you need to, however at the end of the day it comes down to your destiny.
No one controls their destiny and if you think you do, well my friend, you are mistaken. Nothing is stopping destiny from occurring in your life. You can get in your car tomorrow and be smucked out in a heartbeat or you can catch a very luck break, you do not control this from happening. It wasn’t until recently that I finally understood that I am not Superman or SuperStu, you know I make mistakes, I say the wrong thing and maybe sometimes I just do the wrong thing, however I do not control what happens to me. There is only one force in the universe that has that power.
So what does this mean? I believe that our lives are mapped out already for us and everything that happens in our life happens for a reason. Our successes teach us lessons that are important and also when we stumble teaches us important learnings as well.
I pondered this thought all night tonight and especially my future. Now, some people will say that I am crazy for leaving a secure company like IT Matters to jump into a up and coming business that has a lot of players in the market but you know something, it is happening for a reason and I need to put my trust in God and that I will learn from this decision, one way or another.
Hey, but this doesn’t mean you can sit back and just wait. That is not what I am saying, you still need to take the correct actions, you need to execute and follow the plan, the course is mapped out, but you still need to run the race. This is not the secret!
So when you go through those valleys and peaks in your business, you know the ones, did I make the right decision, is this what I am meant to do, trust in powers greater than you that you are on the right course and that awesome things are coming your way. You know what I have learned, God never wants us to fail, it is when we don’t follow His course according to His map, this is when trouble happens in our lives. Trust in Him and He will show you the way.
Doesn’t mean the roller coaster ride stops…just put your faith into action and work through it.
