We have been in the US for the past week and a bit. Over the past 9 days, we have travelled through 7 states including North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming and now Montana. We are in Great Falls tonight before we head off to get back to our home in Calgary.
It has been an amazing time with the family. 10 days on the road will do that, we have been together most of the time with the exception for the time the kids linked up with the others who were at Arlin’s farm on the weekend.
This is definitely the sand Mike. My new friend Mike Martin who lives in Walnut, IA summed it up right on Saturday with his visual display during his talk on the Law of Compensation from the Go-Giver. Mike’s visual of a bucket of rocks and how we normally try to shove more rocks into our bucket when we can fit anymore in and something always falls out or doesn’t fit. This is work for many of us. We are lead to believe that we can’t fit anything else in.
Now our families time, think of it as sand. Now are bucket of rocks which is full and can’t possibly fit anymore rocks in it, however we can fit sand in the spaces between the rocks. This is family time for me, the sand fits between the rocks. This is why I can still get some work done during family time. Thanks to my great staff at IT Matters who have reminded me to get back to the sand time.
The last little bit is water. When we have our rock and sand filled in our bucket, we can always fit some water in. This is time in reflection or alone time. I like to have this with a book or just in reflection. Alone time is something I never did well and I need to do a better job of it. You can find time with the Lord or alone with your thoughts, it is better for me to use this time in prayer. Once again it is something I need to do a better job at.
I also realized that sometime my blog posts don’t make a lot of sense and I am ok with this. My blog writing is something that I do for me to understand the thoughts that go on in my brain and how I relate to it. You see I am a marketing person and an entrepreneur, I have new thoughts ever 30 or so seconds and sometimes I can harness this amazing power and sometimes it is like a bowl of spaghetti, thoughts going all over the place.
I am OK with that…
