A night off work

Last night I elected to take an evening off work to focus on family time.  Too often as entrepreneurs we seem to forget about family and those around us and I am no exception to that rule.  We (most of the family, the oldest is camping this week) went to see “The Dark Knight” at Westhills Theatre.  It was a great movie and action packed right from the start.  However this posting is not about Batman.

Back to Life/Work balance and the importance of that.  I have been working hard in and on IT Matters for the past 7 1/2 years or so.  I can count on one hand the number of days that I disconnected from the office completely and not checked email or dialed in to listen to a voice mail.  I think the number is somewhere between 3 and 4 days where I haven’t done anything IT Matters, HTG, or IAMCP related during this time.  Pretty sad eh!

In August, I am investing 2 weeks and driving out to my good friend Arlin’s farm with the majority of the family.  Why is this escape important?  I have promised myself that I will disconnect from the office for a longer period of time that the weekend I spent in Victoria a few years ago or the one or two so called “Freedom Days” I took when I was working with Andrew Barber-Starkey.  You see the difference is now, that I was taking that time to see if I can do, of course, I can do it – however the difference is now that I want to do it.

During my travels I will scan quickly only in the early morning hours for anything urgent, make my blog posting on my experiences of the previous day, share a quick photo or so with all my friends that read my blog and I am on my way.

One thing I know for sure that will happen is this.  My battery will be recharge, I am pretty tired these days and looking forward to a break.  Oh wait, the other I know what will happen is this – the world will still be spinning, IT Matters will still be in existence, IAMCP will still function, HTG will be helping each other out and life continues on.

So, there I am done with my posting of the day today, enjoy everything around you!

Hi. I bet you enjoyed the night without IT Matters. It’s so true that you always think you have to at least reply to emails when you are an entrepreneur.

I hardly work on weekends or if I do I plan my week ahead. I did though last weekend as I launched my new website http://www.reginaminger.com. I offer great services for the busy entrepreneur to help them exactly do what you try to do all the time…get off the daily routine and focus more time on family or on your business.

    Have a great holiday.
