Marketing is critically important

Marketing, this is the headwaters of your business. The Mississippi River isn’t this huge river when it first starts out, of course not, it is a small stream that gathers more and more water from other rivers until it flows into the Gulf of Mexico. Well your business is exactly the same. Marketing is a critical component to the success of your business, and it can start with a small stream and grow into a massive river.

Yesterday, IT Matters along side our Roger’s partner Cellcom Wireless launched our “Windows a Windows Phone” contest, for the next couple of months we are going to accepting entries into our contest with the winner receiving a brand new Samsung Jack Microsoft Mobile 6 Smartphone. The nice thing about this marketing campaign that it is really cheap to launch and run. Marketing doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg.

This is just part of the services that I also provide to other IT Professionals looking at getting to the next level in their business, as part of my mentoring program, I will help you get to this level and teach you some of the secrets to success in small business IT. I am not perfect and I am always learning as well. If you are interested in speaking to me about marketing your small business IT practice, send me an email.

How is your marketing?

In business today we are always looking for the magic pill of the silver bullet to success, guess what, it doesn’t exist. There is no secret recipe. I had a chance to speak with Kerry who is in charge of marketing in the field for SonicWALL, during our chat we spoke about MDF and I am still amazed on how many partners do not leverage this awesome resource for getting dollars back for their marketing campaigns.

The one lesson that I have learned about marketing is to try new things, and from my good friend Jim Estill, CEO of SYNNEX Canada he says “fail often, fail fast and fail cheap” things sometimes do work out, try small steps, review often and dump things quickly that do not work.

The first step to effectively marketing your business is to set goals, this is where my Goal Setting book will help you, you can find it at http://www.goalsettingforitprofessionals.com.

Be generous, be delicate, and always pursue the prize.
