How big are your dreams?

Yesterday, I had the honour of spending the entire day with my coach – Andrew Barber-Starkey. Andrew is the leader of ProCoach System and he is based in Vancouver and spends a lot of time in Alberta. Andrew is a wonderful man and an amazing coach, he has coached the best. He was one of the guys who got me into business coaching, now I help the IT Professionals and owners of small business computer consulting firms with their needs. I only do this part time right now, my dream is to take my coaching business full time, however, that is part of my 5 year dream – and I will do it! If you would like information on Andrew’s events visit his website by clicking here, or you can email Ginny at admin@procoachsystem.com. I am also hosting Andrew on my Small Business IT Radio program on December 7th at Noon Eastern time, you can get more information here – http://www.smallbusinessitradio.com/2007/11/andrew-barber-starkeys-7-success.html

Back to the lesson from yesterday, Dreams!!! We all have them, how many of us wanted to be a pro hockey player and win the Stanley Cup, or catch that touchdown pass in the Super Bowl, or be a firefighter, doctor, astronaut – How many of us are doing that today? What happened?

Many of us have dreams, like I said one of mine is to be the leading business coach for the small business IT professionals or consulting firms, utilizing the lessons that I have learned with IT Matters. This is my dream, I am going to have people tell me during my journey things like “No one will need that service”, “you can’t do that” or “how can you ever make a living coaching IT guys?”, it happens all the time and that is where many of us abandon our dreams, because family, friends, co-workers and others tell us that we can’t do that.

My friend Ann Stewart, who also is my Success Partner in ProCoach, lived out her dream yesterday in a vivid reality type exercise. Ann wants to be on one of the first Virgin Galactic Space Shuttle flights. I know she will be on that space shuttle, I can just sense it. Her picture of her getting the news that she was chosen was so real, I honestly felt that she was actually chosen to go yesterday on this flight, that is how real her dream is. I know she will get it.

Go after your dreams, don’t let the naysayers of the world prevent you from going after what you really want in life. Most importantly never give up, things will be easy at first and get really tough, extremely tough near the end (this is God’s true test to make sure you deserve it), never give up. Many people quit when their dream is just around the corner, however still slightly out of view. I read a great line in the book I am reading right now, The Alchemist. “The night is always darkest, right before dawn”. That is so true.

How big our your dreams?
